The affiliate searches for products they like, advertise that product and earns a portion of the profits from each sale they make. Sales are tracked from site to site via affiliate links.

How does affiliate marketing work?
Because affiliate marketing works by dividing the responsibilities of marketing and product creation between the parties, it succeeds in harnessing the skills of many individuals to create a more effective marketing strategy while giving back to contributors a share of the profits. For this to work, there must be three different parties involved:

Whether you know it or not, consumers (and their purchases) are the lifeblood of affiliate marketing. Affiliates share these goods with them on social networks, blogs, and websites.
When customers buy the product, then the seller and the partner share the benefits. Sometimes the affiliate chooses to be frank with the consumer by revealing that he will receive a commission on the sales he has made. At other times, the consumer may completely forget about the affiliate marketing infrastructure behind their purchase.
Either way, they rarely pay more for the product purchased through affiliate marketing; the partner’s share of profits is includes in the sale price. The consumer completes the buying process and receives the product, as usual, unaffected by the affiliate marketing system in which he has a significant stake.
How are affiliate traders paid?
Affiliate marketing is a quick, inexpensive way to make money without selling a product. It is attractive to those looking to increase their income online. But how is an affiliate paid after the seller is linked to the consumer?
The consumer does not always have to buy the product for the partner to receive a bribe. Depending on the programs, the affiliate’s contribution to seller sales is measures differently.
The affiliate can be paid in different ways:
Pay per sale.
It is the standard affiliate marketing structure. In this program, the retailer pays the partner a percentage of the product’s sales price after the consumer purchases the product based on the partner’s marketing strategies. In other words, the affiliate needs to get the investor to invest in the product before paying for it.
Pay per leads.
A more complex system, pay per leads affiliate programs pay the affiliate based on the conversion of leads. The partner must convince the consumer to visit the retailer’s website, take the desired action, fill out a communication form, sign up for a product sample, subscribe to a newsletter, or download software or files.
Pay per click.
This program aims to induce the affiliate to redirect consumers from their marketing platform to the merchant’s website. The partner must include the consumer when switching from the partner side to the retailer side. The affiliates are paid on the increase in website traffic.

For many newbies, Amazon is the affiliate network of choice. Well, Amazon Associates isn’t perfect – but I’ll cover that in another article. However, this program is ideal for beginners.
Therefore, Amazon is the world’s most extensive and most reliable e-commerce services. If you want to link to products for sale, Amazon should be your go-to place. For example, the software product Hasten once had a associate program with Commission Junction, the second network on this list. I placed several affiliate links for Quicken on my Investor Junkie blog, and they worked well.
Commission Junction (CJ)
Just behind Amazon, Commission Junction is perhaps the second oldest affiliate program on the Internet. So, Most people in the industry call the company “CJ”. Unlike Amazon, it is more of a network than an online store. It means that, like the other networks on this list, CJ connects you (the partner) with the traders and handles most of those relationships for you. If you are a new affiliate merchant, this can be a godsend as you don’t have to work directly with a merchant.
The Impact is one of the youngest affiliate networks on this list. The company was founded in 2008 by former Commission Junction, Savings.com and Leadpoint employees. At the time of this writing, the Impact Network has over 1,000 dealers. As with Commission Junction, there is a wide range of traders that should fit most industries. The application process for Impact can be a little more complex than for CJ, but I found it easier to accept traders once I got in.
Therefore, I think Impact’s reporting and publishing options are much more flexible than other affiliate programs. When a merchant uses many affiliate networks (which is common), I always use Impact first.
Next on the list might be the one you’ve never heard. Awin is a relatively new player on the court. It results from the merger of two other affiliate networks, Zanox and Affilinet, in August 2017.
Therefore, With more than 8,000 merchants, Awin is one of the best networks and very easy to use. Awin has affiliate programs in various countries around globe, so I recommend it if you have international visitors. Note, however, that Awin’s dealerships are more focused on physical products than software or SaaS.
ShareASale is part of Awin and offers some of the best merchant options available. It currently works with over 1,000 retailers offering everything from physical products to software services. It makes it perfect for this site’s focus on internet marketing. The application process is relatively straightforward, and you can access data on conversions from existing affiliates. So, my only complaint is the partial number of links available from most retailers.
